Medical Student Open House,
September 2, 2010
Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR) has long been recognized as a catalyst for social change at the forefront of advocacy and service through building coalitions of like-minded partners from diverse disciplines and institutions. PSR provides a forum through which people can come together to tackle public health issues in our community.

Come, bring a fellow student, learn about previous student projects such as community gardens, hospital recycling, lobbying days, amd more. Find out how you can work with PSR to turn your passion into activism.

*This event is held at the PSR house and is free of charge*

Support Peaceful Posse
Exciting new things are happening with our Peaceful Posse Program! Over the summer months new initiatives, like the mother/daughter group, will begin. We will also
be reviewing and enhancing our curriculum and evaluation process. Thanks to the generous support of organizations like the Valentine Foundation and the Seybert Institution, many of our groups are partially funded. However, we are still in need of matching funds in the amount of $5,000 to fully fund these groups.

What if Philadelphia Physicians for Social Responsibility earned a donation every time you searched the Internet?  Or how about if a percentage of every purchase you made online went to support our cause?  Well now it can!

GoodSearch.com is a new Yahoo-powered search engine that donates half its advertising revenue, about a penny per search, to the charities its users designate.  Use it just as you would any search engine, get quality search results from Yahoo, and watch the donations add up!  You can even track how much you have personally raised.

GoodShop.com is a new online shopping mall which donates up to 37 percent of each purchase to your favorite cause.  Hundreds of great stores including Amazon, Target, Gap, Best Buy, ebay, Macy's, and Barnes & Noble have teamed up with GoodShop and every time you place an order, you'll be supporting your favorite cause.

Just click the banner below and be sure to enter Philadelphia Physicians for Social Responsibility as the charity you want to support.  And, be sure to spread the word!

Bid with Your Lid and Support PSR
http://www.stonyfield.com/SpecialOffers/BidWithYourLid08

You are one click away from the easiest form of support you have ever given!!!

Each year through its Profits for the Planet Program, organic yogurt maker Stonyfield Farm donates 10% of its profits to efforts that help protect and restore the earth.  In 2008, Stonyfield Farm has chosen to donate funds to PSR and two other environmental groups through a special consumer promotion on its yogurt cup lids. Stonyfield  Farm will give each group $20,000, and will print a promotional message on 20 million yogurt lids, asking consumers to “Bid with Your Lids”. Each of the organizations will receive a percentage of $40,000 equal to the percentage of votes they receive.

Please cast your vote(s) to support PSR. This summer, log onto ww.psr.com and  enter 1 vote and/or collect the limited edition lids and cast multiple votes by mailing the lids to Stonyfield Farm (each lid equals 1 vote for PSR).When you Bid with Your Lid, you will help support PSR. No purchase necessary.

Many thanks from PSR to you.
